Active and Passive Battery Pack Balancing Methods
In a battery pack, different cells will show some imbalance after using a period of time.
If the cells are poorly assembled without checking the consistency before production, the imbalance will be big.
Therefore a balacing module is needed in a battery pack.
Passive balancing is known as Resistor Bleeding Balancing. It is a way of balancing by consuming heat from the cells that has higher capacity.
In the other hand, active balancing moves the energy from "High cell" in the illustration picutre to the "low" cell.
Both way can maintain the battery performance and extend battery pack life. Yet active balancing way has better efficiency.
